Great research and easy read
By David Wolstenholm
You can tell the author went to great lengths in researching this book. It is filled with fun facts and unbiased information. It plainly details presidential vacations; where they went, how much they cost, how often they went, what work went into it, etc. This book could also be useful to researchers looking for information on presidential vacations. Although it is filled with facts, it is a surprisingly easy and quick read. It's organized very well and it is detailed. I only saw two minor errors and I think it should have a table of contents so you can jump from chapter to chapter or at least see how many chapters are in the book. But that's just my opinion, others may not see a need for it. Overall, I give the book five stars and recommend it to everyone.

Presidential junkie
By Arlan
I'm a presidential junkie so I looked forward to reading this book. It turned out to be one of the better "quick reads" on the presidents I've seen in a while. Some of the information was repetitive from other books, it there were amazing facts I've never seen before. Worth the time to read whether a presidential junkie or just a curious history student. Title didn't really do it justice though.

A Fascinating Glimpse into the Private World Lives of American Presidents and their Vacations!
By Rocky
Rob Christofferson has penned a fascinating book that takes us inside the private world of the men who have held arguably the most powerful position on the planet. You can tell a lot about what a person values by how they spend their free time -- and where and with whom they choose to spend that time with. Rob Christofferson has succeeded in pulling the curtain back on this very private world on not only the current President, but on all the U.S. Presidents of the past. This is an entertaining and engaging book by any standard, and I found myself intrigued by the differences in how each President approached their "vacations".
Of course, as Rob explains in the book, you can argue that U.S. Presidents really don't get time off in a traditional sense, but that they just bring their job with them and get a temporary change of scenery. While this may be true, there are subtle differences in the types of vacations a President can take, and some are much more vacation-like than others. Throughout the book you will find fun and interesting facts, such as which President has spent the most on a vacation, with the price tag coming in around four to five million dollars... and which President founded the famous presidential retreat of Camp David, and then which of his successors sought to close it down.
Looking into the private lives of the rich and famous people of the world has always held an allure. It is compelling to see how kings, queens, and celebrities live and re-charge their batteries. Until now, no one has taken the same type of close look at America's Presidents, and this book does an excellent job of lifting the metaphorical curtain. So if you want to know why Warm Springs, Georgia was so appealing to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, or why Hyannsiport, Massachusetts meant so much to John F. Kennedy, you need to read this book.
The bottom line: This was a great read and firmly held my attention. I was enthralled by the interesting facts and stories about presidential vacations, and loved the natural and accessible style the book was written in. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who likes history or just wants to peek inside a world that most of us never get to experience. Bravo Mr. Christofferson - well done!
