What Fun!

Lauren Layne is a new author for me, and boy am I glad I 'discovered" her. After The Kiss was such a fun read, and it looks like a series is in the works. I will be in line for the rest. This was a fun, flirty, sexy, romance that was a fast read, but a totally satisfying one. The premise was really smart. the pacing even, the settings good, and the dialogue fantastic. This book had laugh out loud moments. The love scenes were appropriately placed, passionate, sensual, and moved the story along. The entire book was a gift to a happy reader.
Well done Lauren Layne, looking forward to more.

After The Kiss is a serious case of opposites attract. Julie, a fling jumper and Mitchell a romantic who looks for love in all the wrong places collide. When both Julie and Mitchell trade places in the relationship scale both Julie and Mitchell begin to open their hearts to a forever kind of possibility. After the Kiss made me think of the movie "How to lose a guy in ten days." Julie takes on an assignment writing about the transition of a relationship that goes from just dating to marriage things become something a lot more serious than just research for her job, she actually starts to fall for Mitch for real. For Mitch, he's usually the one seeking out serious relationships but when he takes a bet to be a part of something a lot more short term, even he begins to realize that there's something more to Julie. After the kiss is a cute book worth reading for any romantic.

When you are in the mood for a light-hearted romantic comedy, After the Kiss fits the bill. Julie Greene is a different kind of heroine. It's not that she can't have a relationship, she just doesn't want one, but she isn't going to let that be the reason someone else writes her story. Mitchell Forbes seems to be a pencil pushing beta who accepts a challenge to play the field a little more. But when these two are together, an alpha side of Mitchell emerges from behind his glasses and Julie finds herself wanting to stick around. I loved the definition of the 7 kinds of kisses which I think everyone that reads this story will agree this author got spot on. Along with the sweet and sexy storyline, the banter is hilarious. A fun read that I recommend highly.
